🟣Kinvara GAA would like to thank Joe Mooney & Adrian Philips from the GPA for hosting the Movember "Ahead of the Game" workshop for our Minor players & parents this morning.
🟡The campaign and work shop is formulated to enable young players, their parents, and coaches, to better understand mental health, build mental fitness, and strengthen resilience to deal with challenges in sport and life through a series of interactive workshops, delivered by the members of the GPA (all of whom are present or past inter-county players).
🟣This mornings session which was organised by our Inclusivity ,Diversity and Wellbeing committe proved to be a great experience for all who attended , especially the session with the boys proving to be very enjoyable with lots of interaction, followed by their parents who engaged so well in their session also.
🟡The feedback from both the players and parents was really positive and all agreed that it was very worthwhile attending this workshop.
🟣Ahead of the Game is the most evidence-based youth sport mental health literacy programme in the world. The programme includes content on how to recognise mental health disorders, what to do and when to get help. Athletes learn how to build resilience and overcome challenges in sport and life. The programme is effective because it uses sport to help participants acquire important skills and knowledge.
🟡We look forward to welcoming back again Joe & Adrian to our club to facilitate another session with more players, coaches and parents.
